Dhampus Sarangkot Trek offers a pleasant trail that takes us to famous mountain viewpoints of Pokhara valley - Dhampus and Sarangkot. Whether you are a skilled veteran in the mountains or it’s your first hike, you will have a blast exploring villages and diverse landscapes. Designed for those who don’t have enough time for trekking this amazing walk in a exotic landscape will be your indelible walk of life. At each viewpoint, you will have an outstanding and close up views of Annapurna panorama, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Machhapuchhre, Mt. Nilgiri and many other neighboring peaks.

Our path begins from Phedi, after half an hour winding ride from Pokhara. Ascent through rice terraces and rhododendron forests our first magical stop is Dhumpas where you are rewarded with an extraordinary view of Pokhara and the valley below you. It is also inhabitants of warm and hospitable Gurung community. Relax, take it slow, and learn about unique culture and lifestyle of these Himalayan ethnic group preserved in its exotic form for centuries.

Weave our way through terraced hills, reflecting on the awe-inspiring beauty next day we take a 6-hour walk from Dhampus to Sarangkot where we stop for a while at Naudanda and enjoy lunch with views of the magnificent mountain scenery of the Himalayas, Mt. Fishtail (6993 m), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Mt. Annapurna I (8091 m), Mt. Lamjung Himal, and Mt. Manaslu (8163 m). Continuing the trail we finally reach Sarangkot; with 1,592m it is the highest town in the region, that offer a vast backdrop of the Annapurna and fascinating views of Pokhara city with the azure lakes embedded in it. Dhampus and Sarangkot both have viewpoints from where you can admire the sunrise and sunset over snow-capped peaks.

The trek ends at Phewa Lake, from where you can walk or drive further to Pokhara. The afternoon in Pokhara stands for its own discoveries or to a deserved relax at leisure. A pleasant walk through the bazaar along the lakeshore, where you can look out for various souvenirs.

Best Time for Dhampus Sarangkot Trek
Trekking is possible throughout the year, but Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) provide the best weather. Spring will be more enthralling because of rhododendron flower along the path and in Autumn the skies are generally clearer thus offers outstanding Himalayan views. Whereas during the monsoon season, there are fewer tourists.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Drive to Pokhara (820 m / 2,690 ft), 6-7 hours, and transfer to hotel.


Day 2 : Drive to Phedi (850 m / 2,788 ft), 30 minutes, and trek to Dhampus (1,770 m / 5,807 ft), 2-3 hours.

We go on a 30 min drive to Phedi and start the trek to Dhampus (1,650 m). We can take it nice and slow as it only takes 3 hours to get to the beautiful village of Dhampus. The trails have steps making it a little difficult but the views are totally worth it!!

Day 3 : Trek to Sarangkot (1,592 m / 5,223 ft), 5-6 hours.

First, we descent down to the valley and slowly climb up to Naudada. We will have lunch with the magnificent views of the Annapurna range. While going to Sarangkot, we can enjoy the gorgeous sunset view from the view tower. We can get beautiful views of the city of Pokhara and its lake.

Day 4 : Trek to Phewa Lake (780 m / 2,559 ft), 2 hours, and drive to Pokhara (820 m / 2,690 ft), 20 minutes.


Day 5 : Drive to Kathmandu (1,300 m / 4,665 ft), 6-7 hours drive.
